The guest lecture for the human resource domain in St. Joseph’s Institute of Management took place on the 27th of August 2018. It was proposed by Dr. Bindu Singh with the aim to offer practical insights to the students in Elective Subject “Industrial relations and Labour laws”. The guest lecture was conducted by Mr Sunder Rajan, who is having 35 years of experience covering Hi-tech world class Multinational firm and large Indian Information Technology organizations. Mr. Rajan is now a human resource management practitioner for human resources systems and process improvements, organizational development interventions and training & development initiatives for many organizations at Bangalore and Dubai. He worked on to create "Employer of choice practices", facilitating the human resource audit to find the path for human resource team development to extend support to business human resource practices.

The topic of the guest lecture was Current Trends in Industrial Relations. He discussed about the current status of Industrial relations and the challenges. He emphasized on the foundation of Industrial relations that comprises Human relations and Humane relations. He mentioned the shift of Industrial relations to Employee relations and explained the basic spirit of managing relations at workplace. Recently he represented India at Oxford University. He shared his views with the students and encouraged them to enter into the field of HR. At the end of the session, he conducted a small question and answer round, where students participated well and enjoyed the insights of Mr Sunder Rajan. Overall, this session offered students a glimpse of industry and stands a perfect blend of practical insight and theoretical knowledge.
