St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) celebrated Thimirthonam’26, a vibrant Onam
celebration that brought together Kerala’s rich cultural traditions, student talent, and the spirit
of the Josephite community. Held on 12 September 2026 at the SJIM campus, the
celebration featured a colourful blend of tradition, music, dance, speeches, and competitions.
The programme began with the energetic entry of Chenda, Dr. Fr. Roshan Pereira SJ, and
Maveli, setting a distinctly traditional Kerala atmosphere. The Lighting of the Lamp
formally inaugurated the celebration, followed by a graceful Thiruvathira performance that
highlighted the richness of Kerala’s cultural heritage.
The celebrations continued with the Welcome Address by the Council and the Director’s
Speech, connecting the festivities with the larger values and spirit of the SJIM community.
Students then showcased their talents through Group Singing, the First Years’ Dance,
Fashion Walk, and Seniors’ Dance, reflecting creativity, teamwork, enthusiasm, and
camaraderie across batches.
A key highlight of the programme was Malayali Manka & Malayali Mannan, which
celebrated Kerala’s cultural identity while adding an engaging competitive dimension to the
festivities.
The event concluded with traditional Onam Sadya and Ona Kaligal. Thimirthonam’26
successfully brought together tradition and contemporary student expression, creating a
memorable celebration of culture, community, and togetherness at SJIM.
The lecture provided an opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with
contemporary developments in taxation, technology, and economic policy.
