On 21st July 2025, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) hosted an engaging guest lecture on Understanding Cryptocurrency by Mr. Anush Jaffer, Lead Researcher at Mudrex.
Mr. Jaffer offered a comprehensive overview of the evolution, mechanics, and future of cryptocurrencies, starting with fundamental concepts like blockchain technology and its real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare and supply chain. He explained different types of cryptocurrencies — from Bitcoin and stablecoins to DeFi tokens — and highlighted institutional adoption by companies like BlackRock, VISA, AXA, and Sotheby’s.
Key insights included Bitcoin’s role in global finance, the dynamics of spot vs. futures trading, and India’s crypto taxation framework. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where the second-year PGDM students actively engaged on topics of adoption and investment strategies.
The lecture was an informative and thought-provoking experience, equipping students with valuable perspectives on one of the most dynamic sectors in today’s financial landscape.
