St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) hosted an engaging academic session titled “Decoding Union Budget 2026–27” on 11th February 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Loyola Auditorium. The event was organized by the second-year PGDM students with the objective of helping participants understand the key highlights and economic implications of the Union Budget in a simplified and interactive manner.

Guided by faculty mentor Mr. Leo Deepak, the session featured student presenters Meghna S, Ajith Nair, and Yashaswini K S, who offered clear and structured insights into the major announcements of the budget. They explained complex financial figures, fiscal policies, taxation measures, and government expenditure priorities in a relatable way, ensuring accessibility for students from diverse academic backgrounds.

The discussion covered critical sectors such as healthcare, defence, MSMEs, and infrastructure, while also highlighting the Government’s focus on the digital economy and green growth initiatives. Special emphasis was placed on understanding how budgetary decisions influence businesses, consumers, and the broader economy.

The session encouraged students to critically analyze policy decisions and reflect on their relevance as future managers and professionals. Overall, the event proved to be a valuable academic initiative that strengthened financial literacy, analytical thinking, and awareness of national economic priorities.
