SJIM Celebrates its 58th Foundation Day

St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM), Bengaluru, celebrated its 58th Foundation Day on 5th March at Loyola Auditorium, commemorating the founding of the institute in 1968. The occasion brought together students, faculty, staff, and distinguished guests to reflect on the institution’s journey, achievements, and vision for the future.

The celebration began with a vibrant welcome dance performance by students, setting a festive tone for the event. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing knowledge and wisdom, accompanied by a hymn presented by the SJIM Choir.

The event was graced by Mr. Richard Lobo, Chief People Officer at Tech Mahindra, who served as the Chief Guest for the occasion and Mr. David Istacky, CEO of the Good Sam Foundation, other dignitaries present included Rev. Dr. Roshan David Pereira SJ, Director of SJIM; Dr. Rajiv Noronha, Dean; and Rev. Fr. Prashant D’Souza SJ, Finance Officer, along with faculty members and invited guests.

In his address, the Director highlighted SJIM’s rich legacy and continued commitment to excellence in management education. The highlight of the celebration was the Foundation Day Address by Mr. Richard Lobo, who shared insightful perspectives on leadership, talent management, and the importance of nurturing young professionals for the future. A special moment during the celebration was the felicitation of retiring faculty members, Prof. V. J. Lawrence and Prof. V. K. Anand, who were honored for their nearly two decades of dedicated service to the institution. Their contributions were celebrated through heartfelt tributes and a special video presentation.

The event also featured the presentation of the SJIM Social Entrepreneurship Award to Mr. David Istacky, CEO of the Good Sam Foundation, in recognition of his impactful work in addressing social and environmental challenges.

As part of the celebration, Dr. Rajiv Noronha, Dean, announced the names of 50 students who were honored with merit scholarships in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rahul Gowda, General Secretary of the Student Council, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, faculty members, and volunteers for their contributions to the success of the event.
