St. Joseph’s Institute of Management (SJIM) celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava on 22nd November 2025 with great pride, vibrancy, and cultural spirit. The programme commenced at 11:30 AM in the presence of the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Kumaraswamy Bejjihalli, Assistant Professor St Joseph’s University, highlighted in his speech the Richness of Karnataka in diversity in language, culture. His participation added immense value to the occasion.
The celebration began with the hoisting of the Karnataka State Flag, symbolising unity and honour towards Kannada culture and heritage, followed by a soulful rendition of the State Anthem sung by the faculty members. A special moment of the event was the unveiling of a banner dedicated to Salumarada Thimakka, paying tribute to her remarkable contributions to society.
The formal ceremony was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp, after which a graceful welcome dance by Jayishnu set the cultural tone for the day.
A motivational address by Fr. Prashanth highlighted the significance of Kannada heritage, identity, and togetherness.
The cultural performances included a melodious group song by SJIM students and energetic dance presentations by 1st-year and 2nd-year students, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm. Attendees were later treated to an authentic Karnataka cuisine lunch, fostering a sense of community and warmth.
Post lunch, the campus witnessed vibrant traditional art forms including Veeragase, Yakshagana, Pooja Kunitha, and hand drum performances. These captivating displays brought alive the rich cultural diversity of Karnataka.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Nameeth, acknowledging the contributions of the management, faculty, student coordinators, performers, and volunteers.
The day truly reflected the pride, unity, and cultural richness of Karnataka, making the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration a memorable and meaningful experience for the entire SJIM community.
