An industrial visit to “Volvo Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd” Peenya Industrial area, Karnataka was successfully organized by the St. Joseph’s Institute of Management on Tuesday, 22nd Nov, 2022. Twenty-nine students visited the Volvo manufacturing plant to understand the manufacturing process of different construction equipment like crawler excavators, soil compactors, asphalt pavers.The students spent 3 hours in plant in which they were given a brief presentation by D.Raghavendra and Mr. Laxman on the safety measures to be followed during the plant visit, different verticals of the company, its suppliers and global customers, the core operations involved in the production, the quality management process followed by Volvo. Students visited the shop floor where they could observe the various concepts learnt during the course like Andon in lean, different stages in assembly line, test drive inspection (TDI), paint-shop, pre delivery inspection (PDI), fish-bone diagram and many more.
